Google Adsense Guide

Intro
Okay, so you have just finished signing up for your blog and now are ready to make some real money. To do that you first start out by signing up for google adsense. I signed up for mine directly through blogger, so if you want this information to match with what you're going to do, then i suggest you sign up through blogger too.

Time
For some reason i thought it would take longer for me to sign up and get all the confirmation etc. but luckily it was all done within 10-20 minutes at tops. People had been saying that google won't accept blogs, but they did, and really quickly (might i add).

Information
Just fill out all the information that they require. Don't lie about address and phone, they might want to contact you.(they usually don't)

Survival tips
1. In order for google to send you a check, you need to have made atleast $100. To get to that point, you have to make sure that your blog gets promoted properly. Failure in doing so will lead to no visitors, and no visitors equals to no money. You might want to check out Blog Explosion, they helped me in getting lots of new visitors.

2. Never ever click on your own links. No matter how tempted you get, don't do it. Trust me, you do not want to risk losing your account. Also avoid telling family members to click on them. Google is very keen about these things.

3. You will mostly likely have to update your content daily or every 2 days if you want your blog to generate revenue. I saw that sometimes these blogs actually make it in google's search engine. This will bring you a good amount to visitors.

Search engine tips
Meta tags won't help you in google's search engine, however content will. Stay dedicated on one topic. Don't start jumbling different things as this will only make your ad's undedicated.

Ad Placement
If you haven't already seen the placement picture for the ad's, you can take a look at it here:

As is gets darker, thats where the common hot spots are. They also tell you that you should match the ads with your page, but from personal experience i can say that it didn't work out for me.

Revenue
So how much will you be making? That mainly depends upon your content. I cannot share how much i made due to google's regulations but I can give a good hint about how much a click can range from. Beginner clicks range from $.05 to a few dollars while better performance ranges from $.4 to more dollars. Again, it really depends upon your content.

Don't make a site just for adsense, make it for something you like then take advantage of adsense program. This is not a get rich quick scheme.

*****My tips after i had adsense for a few weeks*******
I learned that promoting your blog can be one of the most needed things for you to get some clicks on your ads. If you don't get visitors or your blog gets boring, you'll make nothing. Try your best to get your site into search engines. Google, Yahoo, HotBot all allow free submission(make sure you have enough content).

Put additional things like today's ________ or _________ of the day. This interests people. Link back to others and ask them to link back to you. This was an effective way.

Things to do while you wait.....

If you're one of those unlucky people who have to wait for their confirmation or wait until the bots get to your site, i have some things here that you can do while you wait.

If you haven't already, check out Google Earth:

There are so many things you can see through it, and you get a really high tech interface. It's almost as if you were a satellite. Some of the first things i looked up were the Grand Canyon, Eiffel Tower, and my home.

Also check out Google Video:

You'll be sure to find some crazy videos that will keep you busy for a while.
